As you all probably know, Jace and I met in high school when we were very different people than we are now. We were friends then but when we reconnected in 2020 (thank you COVID) the relationship was very clearly more than just a friendship from the very beginning.
When we shared our first kiss it was the cheesiest experience either of us had ever had. We are talking about fireworks and rainbows, people! For a year after that we developed our relationship, and ourselves, long distance. We were able to become our best selves for each other and get to know who we are as individuals.
After Danielle moved back we were basically inseparable and have been ever since. We did run off to Vegas to get married and it was so much fun but we both felt like we wanted to experience it with our family and friends.

We talked my whole family into going to the SF Zoo on a day trip. We got there early, had a blast at looking at all the animals, but there was one more show I really wanted to see. The Penguins!

It took a while for them to get started but it was fun to watch and when it was over I started heading out but Jace and my mom were pushing to stay just a few minutes longer.

Then I see the workers pull out this giant sign "Will you marry me" I thought to myself how awkward that would be and started just walking away. I looked back and boom. Jace was on his knees proposing. So, of course I said "Yes!" and it is honestly one of my favorite memories.

Planning a surprise proposal for somebody who doesn’t like surprises poses a set of unique challenges. I knew she needed to have her family around, and what better place than the San Francisco Zoo.
After the penguins were fed, we waited just a little longer as the attendants set up the banner. When Danielle was looking around, I got down on one knee and asked her to Marry Me.
